“At Crowe Peak, you are not treated as an intern, but as a full team member.”
“Crowe Peak does not offer its interns an internship, but a traineeship. This gives interns (the trainees) the opportunity to fully participate in the team. And a traineeship also means: more freedom, responsibility and independent work. Mahek was able to experience this during her traineeship in the Audit & Assurance department of Crowe Peak. Mahek: "Because of all the freedom and responsibility I was given, I learned a lot in a short period of time. I really participated in the team and worked independently on different activities. If I wanted to work on a new assignment, I just informed my manager about it. In all these cases, I could start working on it almost immediately.”
Diverse client portfolio with international character
The international nature of Crowe Peak convinced Mahek to apply for the traineeship. Although this was not the only thing that convinced her. "During the interviews, it became clear that the client portfolio of Crowe Peak is diverse, and the work atmosphere is fun and informal. That really appealed to me and ultimately, it corresponded exactly with reality: during my traineeship I worked in an open and committed team and for both national and international clients.”
"In addition, due to the variety of clients and activities, no work week was the same. Every week I worked for different clients, and I got a glimpse of the different types of companies from all kinds of sectors that Crowe Peak works for. Obviously, there were recurring tasks, but I certainly didn't do the same thing for every client or every day. For one client you are dealing with cash and cash equivalents, for another client you are completing checklists, and for yet another client you are conducting an inventory of stock."
Business English
“Because of its international nature, the working language at Crowe Peak is mostly English. Mahek also noticed this. "In the beginning, I had to get used to the business English, as I did not yet know all the professional terms. Fortunately, I received good guidance from my colleagues. For example, I received feedback on my English reporting, tips for business English communication and a business dictionary. Moreover, it was made clear to me immediately on day one that it's okay if you are not fully familiar with business English for a while."
Independently to the customer
Mahek is also very satisfied with the overall supervision during the internships/traineeships at Crowe Peak. "The first working week consisted of presentations regarding working methods, systems, procedures and client assignments. Colleagues took plenty of time for this. Whenever I started a new task, I first received an extensive explanation on how to do it. Of course, in between there was plenty of room to ask questions."
What did Mahek remember most from her training period? "When I was first allowed to go out on my own to a customer to carry out a stock inventory independently. I thought it was very cool that Crowe Peak entrusted this to me."
Learning from other trainees
“Trainees can attend courses every other month. These take place online or on-site and are provided by Crowe Peak or an external party. For example, Mahek recently took a course on data analysis and another course on "saying no" is scheduled soon. "What I especially liked about the courses is that as a trainee you are in the spotlight. You can and may really ask anything and it gives you the opportunity to exchange experiences with other trainees. That way you can also learn a lot from each other."
Mahek has now completed her first traineeship but will continue to work at Crowe Peak for the time being. "I started my “graduate internship” in February, which I am also doing in the role of trainee. When I finish my bachelor's, I am going to enroll in a pre-master's degree, and I want to continue my studies to become a Chartered Accountant. I have also been offered a traineeship for that period. I think it is super cool that Crowe Peak gives me this opportunity and continues to invest in me!"
